The DY Patil T20 Cup has a long history in Indian cricket. The Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy launched it in 2005, making it the first T20 competition in India, before the IPL even existed.
The tournament takes place every year at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. It runs just before the IPL season begins. Around 16 teams from corporate houses, public-sector companies, and club sides compete each year.
Over the years, many top players have appeared in this tournament. Names like Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, Krunal Pandya, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Prithvi Shaw have all taken part. For younger players, it has often acted as a stepping stone to bigger opportunities.
