Chennai Super Kings enter IPL 2026 with a refreshed squad after a tough 2025 campaign. Big names like Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Sam Curran, and Matheesha Pathirana no longer wear yellow. That forced CSK to rethink their overseas combination from the ground up.

So, which four foreign players could earn a place in CSK’s starting XI this season?

Dewald Brevis: The Power Hitter CSK Backs Long-Term

South Africa’s Dewald Brevis, nicknamed “Baby AB,” showed glimpses of his talent as a replacement player in 2025. Across 16 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians and CSK, he has scored 455 runs at a strike rate above 153. CSK sees him as a fearless middle-order option at No. 4 or 5, someone who can change gears quickly during the middle and death overs.

Nathan Ellis: The Clever Death Bowler

Pathirana’s exit left a massive gap in CSK’s death bowling. Australian pacer Nathan Ellis fills that role with smart variations rather than raw speed. He relies on slower balls and well-directed yorkers to trouble batters. In 17 IPL matches, Ellis has picked up 19 wickets with a best of 4/30. His style suits the slower Chepauk surface perfectly.

Noor Ahmad: Spin Leader At Chepauk

Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad takes charge of CSK’s spin attack this season. Chepauk has always rewarded quality spin bowling, and Noor delivers exactly that. He has claimed 48 wickets in 37 IPL matches at an economy rate of 8.08. His ability to spin the ball both ways makes him a nightmare for batters during the middle overs.

The Fourth Spot: Akeal Hosein Or Matt Henry

The final overseas slot stays flexible. Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein could fill the gap left by Ravindra Jadeja’s departure, especially at spin-friendly Chepauk. For away matches on bouncier tracks, New Zealand pacer Matt Henry becomes the better pick. CSK will rotate between the two based on conditions.

CSK’s overseas mix blends youth, variety, and tactical smartness. If these four deliver, Chennai could surprise everyone in IPL 2026.
