India beat the Netherlands by 17 runs in Match 36 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 18. India posted 193/6 thanks to a blazing 66 off 31 balls from Shivam Dube, then held Netherlands to 176/7 in their chase.

Dube took the Player of the Match award for his all-round effort, adding 2 wickets with the ball as well. Varun Chakravarthy was the most economical Indian bowler, picking up 3 wickets at just 4.66 runs per over.

India Innings: 193/6 in 20 Overs

India lost Abhishek Sharma for a duck on the third ball, caught off Aryan Dutt. Ishan Kishan counter-attacked with 18 off just 7 balls before also falling to Dutt. India still managed 51 runs in the powerplay.

Tilak Varma (31 off 27) and Suryakumar Yadav (34 off 28) steadied the innings, but neither could push on. India reached 110/4 at the halfway point, with the match poised.

Shivam Dube then took over. He brought up his fifty off just 25 balls and launched an assault in the death overs, hitting 6 sixes in his 66 off 31 balls. Hardik Pandya chipped in with 30 off 21, and the two put on a brisk 5th-wicket stand to take India past 186 before both fell late.

Logan van Beek was the pick of Netherlands’ bowlers with 3 wickets, though he went for 56 runs in 4 overs. Aryan Dutt bowled well, conceding only 19 in 4 overs.

Netherlands Chase: 176/7 in 20 Overs

Netherlands needed 194 to win and got off to a decent start with 36 runs in the powerplay. Max O’Dowd (20) and Michael Levitt (24) gave them a solid foundation, but both fell before the 8th over.

Bas de Leede top-scored with 33 off 23, and Colin Ackermann hit a quick 23 off 15. But Netherlands kept losing wickets at key moments. Varun Chakravarthy was brilliant in the middle overs, taking 3 wickets at under 5 runs an over.

Zach Lion-Cachet (26 off 16) and Noah Croes (25 off 12) kept Netherlands in the hunt late on, but the target was always going to be a stretch. Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with a wicket, and Shivam Dube took 2 to wrap things up.

Netherlands fell 17 runs short, finishing at 176/7.
