The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially released the schedule for Afghanistan’s upcoming tour of India. This tour will take place in June 2026.

It features a mix of formats, including one Test match and three One Day Internationals (ODIs). Fans across the country are excited to see these two teams compete on Indian soil once again.

The Historic Test Match in New Chandigarh

The tour begins with a prestigious five-day Test match. This game will run from June 6 to June 10, 2026. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host this match. This venue is one of the newer international grounds in India.

It offers modern facilities and a pitch that usually helps both fast bowlers and batters. For Afghanistan, this Test represents a major opportunity to prove their skills in the longest and toughest format of the game.

The Exciting ODI Series

After the Test match concludes, the focus will shift to white-ball cricket. The teams will play a three-match ODI series across three different cities. The first ODI will happen on June 14 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. This stadium is famous for its cold weather and beautiful mountain views.

The second ODI will be held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on June 17. The series will then conclude in the south. The final ODI will take place on June 20 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This ground is known for its spin-friendly tracks, which could favor the world-class spinners from both sides.

A Growing Cricket Rivalry

This series highlights the strong sporting bond between India and Afghanistan. India has often supported Afghanistan’s cricket growth by providing training grounds and resources. While India remains a dominant force at home, Afghanistan has shown it can challenge the world’s best teams.

This tour provides a great platform for young players to perform under pressure on the international stage. Local fans in all four cities are expected to fill the stadiums to witness this high-quality contest.
