Wong was on fire—she sent Kiran Navgire, Simran Shaikh, and Sophie Ecclestone back to the pavilion in three consecutive deliveries. That hat trick was the league’s first ever. Wong’s got real pace and knows how to rattle batters with her bounce. With that hat-trick, she set the bar high for every bowler in the WPL.

Deepti Sharma – India’s Hat-Trick Hero

In 2024, Deepti Sharma pulled off something no other Indian bowler had done in the WPL—she took a hat-trick. She did it for UP Warriorz against Delhi Capitals, right in Delhi. And she didn’t just get lucky with tailenders; her wickets were some of the biggest names around.

First, she sent Australia’s Meg Lanning back—yeah, that Meg Lanning, one of the best batters in women’s cricket. Then she got rid of Annabel Sutherland, another top Australian. And to seal the deal, Arundhati Reddy fell next, making it three in three for Deepti.

Honestly, Deepti’s been a rock for India for years. She bats, bowls, and fields—you name it. Now, with this hat trick, she’s added yet another highlight to an already impressive career.

Grace Harris – Taken A Hat-Trick

Grace Harris pulled off the latest hat trick in 2025. Playing for UP Warriorz Women against Delhi Capitals Women in Bengaluru, she showed she’s more than just a powerful batter.

That day, Harris took out Niki Prasad, Arundhati Reddy, and Minnu Mani one after another. It was a huge moment for her. People mostly talk about her big hitting, but this hat trick reminded everyone she can turn a game with the ball, too.

Nandini Sharma – Took a Hat-Trick (2026)

The most recent addition to this elite club is Nandini Sharma, who delivered a stunning performance in the 2026 WPL season. Playing for Delhi Capitals Women against Gujarat Giants Women at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

Nandini removed Kanika Ahuja, followed by Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and then capped it off by dismissing Renuka Singh, three wickets in three balls. What made it even more special was that this hat trick came as part of a dominant bowling spell, underlining her ability to step up on the big stage.

With this feat, Nandini became the fourth bowler to take a WPL hat trick and the first for Delhi Capitals Women, adding a new chapter to the league’s growing history.

Key Observations

One hat-trick every season – The WPL has witnessed exactly one hat-trick in each of its three seasons. This shows how rare the feat is, even in a fast-paced T20 format.

UP Warriorz Women connection— Two of the three hat-tricks came from UP Warriorz bowlers. Deepti Sharma and Grace Harris both wore the UP jersey when they achieved this feat. The franchise seems to have a knack for picking match-winning bowlers.

Delhi Capitals Women on the receiving end – Delhi Capitals Women have been the victims twice. Both Deepti Sharma and Grace Harris took their hat tricks against them. The team hopes to avoid being on the wrong end of history again.

International flavor—Bowlers from three different countries have taken WPL hat-tricks. Issy Wong represents England, Deepti Sharma plays for India, and Grace Harris is Australian. This diversity shows the global appeal of the WPL.

Mix of pace and spin—Issy Wong and Grace Harris are medium-pace bowlers, while Deepti Sharma is a spinner. This proves that hat tricks can come from any bowling style.

What Makes A Hat-Trick Special?

Pulling off three wickets in three balls takes more than talent. The bowler needs a cool head when everyone’s watching. Every ball has to be spot on. Slip up once, and that’s it—opportunity lost.

T20 cricket brings out the big hitters. Batters swing hard, trying to clear the ropes, which opens up chances for the bowler. Still, there’s almost no room for mistakes. Bowl one loose delivery, and it’s sailing over the boundary.

That’s what makes a hat-trick such a big deal in cricket. People don’t forget those moments. They stick with fans for years.
