Lizelle Lee’s in a bit of hot water after her latest match. She received a fine and a demerit point for breaking the Code of Conduct during a Women’s Premier League game. Basically, the officials weren’t happy with how she acted on the field, so now she’s handing over part of her match fee as a penalty.

This all went down during a big game between the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians. Lee, who’s both wicketkeeper and opening batter for Delhi, actually did well with the bat. Still, something she did during the game caught the umpires’ attention. They felt it just didn’t fit with the spirit of cricket, so they flagged it right away to the match referee.

After looking at the evidence, the referee agreed there’d been a breach. Lee admitted what she did, so they skipped a formal hearing. Besides the fine, she now has a demerit point on her record. Too many demerit points in a short time, and the league can bench a player for future matches.

Lee’s a huge asset to her team. She’s been in the headlines lately for some amazing catches and strong batting, and her fans want her to keep her head in the game. The Delhi Capitals count on her at the top of the order if they want to take home the trophy. This penalty’s a clear signal for all players: stick to the rules, or face the consequences.
