Adilabad police arrested 10 people for betting on IPL 2026 matches in Echoda mandal on Monday night. Officers raided a location in the area following a tip-off and caught the group red-handed. Authorities seized three motorcycles, nine mobile phones, and ₹4,470 in cash from the accused.
The arrested individuals are all residents of Echoda mandal in Adilabad district, Telangana. Police identified them as Golusula Ajay, Dandugula Murali, Jadhav Ramu, Kamble Akash, Sidam Ravi, Kamble Raj Kumar, Kamble Arun, Dasanna, Seepelli Srinivas, and Kamble Shashikumar.
According to reports, the group was placing bets on ongoing IPL matches when police arrived at the spot.
What Did Echoda Police Say?
Echoda Inspector Bandari Raju issued a strong warning after the arrests. He urged the public to stay away from IPL betting and confirmed that police will take stern action against anyone found involved in gambling activities.

Additionally, Raju stated that law enforcement is keeping a close watch on habitual offenders throughout the IPL season. This suggests more raids could follow in the coming weeks as the tournament progresses.
Why Are IPL Betting Arrests Rising Across Telangana?
This isn’t an isolated incident. Just days ago, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar warned the public against betting apps ahead of the IPL 2026 season opener. He highlighted that despite banning hundreds of apps last year, fraudsters now operate through Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
Telangana banned online betting apps back in 2017, yet illegal operations continue to thrive. Every IPL season triggers a spike in both online and offline betting across the state. The Adilabad raid is among the first enforcement actions of IPL 2026, and police across Telangana are clearly on high alert.
For fans, the message from authorities remains the same: enjoy the cricket, skip the betting.
