Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans have a reason to celebrate. The team will play five home matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the IPL 2026 season. This news brings cricket back to one of India’s most famous grounds. The stadium will also host the opening ceremony and the first match of the tournament.

For a long time, it was unclear whether RCB could play in Bengaluru. The stadium did not host any big matches for several months. This was due to a tragic stampede that happened last year during a fan event. The local government and safety experts had to check the building carefully. They wanted to make sure every fan would be safe. After a long wait, the stadium finally received safety clearance to host matches again.

The upcoming season will be special for RCB. They enter the tournament as the defending champions. They won their first IPL title last year by beating Punjab Kings in the final. Now, they will start their title defense on home soil on March 28. Fans are excited to see stars like Virat Kohli play under the lights in Bengaluru once more.

While the Chinnaswamy Stadium will host five league games, the team will play its other two home matches in Raipur. This is because the league wants to spread the game to different cities. Bengaluru will also be the center of the playoffs. The stadium will host a playoff match and the grand final on May 31.

The return of cricket is a big moment for the city. Local authorities have put new rules in place to better manage crowds. There will be a limit on the number of people allowed inside to keep everyone safe. With the schedule now clear, Bengaluru is ready to welcome the IPL back with full energy.
