Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill is set to return to the playing XI for the upcoming IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals (DC). The game will take place on Wednesday, April 8, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Injury Update
Shubman Gill missed the previous match against Rajasthan Royals due to a lower back muscle spasm. In his absence, Rashid Khan led the team as stand-in captain.
On Tuesday, GT batter Sai Sudharsan confirmed that the captain has recovered and is fit to lead the side. “Shubman is coming along well. He will be playing tomorrow,” Sudharsan stated during a pre-match press interaction. Gill was seen practicing in the nets and appeared to have overcome the neck and back stiffness that had troubled him recently.
Team Outlook
The return of Gill is a major boost for Gujarat Titans, who are currently placed 9th on the points table. The team has lost its last two matches against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Gill is expected to replace Kumar Kushagra at the top of the order and resume his opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan.
