Australia has made a big change to its cricket team for the T20 World Cup. Veteran batter Steve Smith has officially joined the squad. He is replacing fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who cannot play due to an injury.

Josh Hazlewood has been struggling with leg and foot injuries for some time. He missed important games earlier this year and hoped to be ready for the World Cup. However, he did not recover fast enough. The team decided it was too risky to let him play without being fully fit.

This change is unusual because a batter is replacing a bowler. Australia selected Smith for his strong form and experience. He recently played very well in the Big Bash League, where he scored many runs quickly. The team also needs his help because other key players are hurt. Captain Mitchell Marsh has a groin injury, and star bowler Pat Cummins is already out of the tournament.

The World Cup is taking place in India and Sri Lanka. The pitches there often help spin bowlers more than fast bowlers. Since Steve Smith is excellent at playing against spin, his presence will strengthen the batting lineup. He also provides leadership to a team facing numerous health challenges.

Australia is currently playing in the early stages of the tournament. They hope Smith’s experience will help them win another world title. While fans will miss Hazlewood’s fast bowling, they are excited to see Smith back in the Australian jersey.
