Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in Match 3 of IPL 2026 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Monday. RR chased down the modest target in just 12.1 overs, finishing at 128 for 2.

The match belonged to 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who played one of the most explosive innings in IPL history.

Sooryavanshi Reaches Fifty in 15 Balls

Sooryavanshi scored his half-century off just 15 balls, hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of over 300. This is the joint fourth-fastest fifty in IPL history, alongside Yusuf Pathan, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, and Jake Fraser-McGurk.

Only four other players in IPL history have reached their fifty faster than Sooryavanshi: Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 balls), KL Rahul, Pat Cummins, and Romario Shepherd (all in 14 balls).

CSK could have dismissed Sooryavanshi for a golden duck had debutant Kartik Sharma not dropped him off Matt Henry in the first over. The ball was parried to the boundary instead, and Sooryavanshi hit Henry for a six off the very next delivery.

Though he was eventually caught at extra cover off Anshul Kamboj, Sooryavanshi had already scored 52 runs off just 17 balls before his dismissal.

RR Chase Down 128 With Ease

After Sooryavanshi’s dismissal, Yashasvi Jaiswal (38 not out) and captain Riyan Parag (14 not out) completed the chase comfortably for RR. Rajasthan won with eight wickets and almost as many overs to spare.

CSK Bowled Out For 127

RR won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Guwahati pitch had spent considerable time under covers due to rain on both match day and match eve, and RR made excellent use of those conditions.

Jofra Archer took 2 wickets for 19 runs, Nandre Burger took 2 for 27, and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 for 18 as CSK were bowled out for 127 in 19.4 overs.

Jadeja marked his return to Rajasthan Royals after 17 years with a double-wicket first over.

CSK were reduced to 30 for 3 inside the powerplay, with both Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad dismissed early. Jamie Overton top-scored for CSK with 43 off 36 balls.
