Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now eligible to play international cricket for India. The young Rajasthan Royals batter turned 15 on March 27, 2026. He was born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced a minimum age rule in 2020. Under Article 4 of ICC’s eligibility policy, a player must be at least 15 years old to play senior international cricket. Suryavanshi had been below this age limit until now.

With his 15th birthday, that barrier no longer exists.

His IPL Record Speaks for Itself

Suryavanshi made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals at the age of 14. In IPL 2025, he played 7 matches and scored 252 runs. He hit 1 century and 1 fifty during that season.

Against Gujarat Titans, he scored 101 runs off just 38 balls, reaching his century in 35 balls. That made him the youngest-ever centurion in IPL history and the fastest Indian batter to score a hundred in the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals retained him ahead of IPL 2026 for Rs 1.1 crore.

Dominant Run in the U19 World Cup 2026

Suryavanshi was the standout batter at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026. In the final against England, he scored 175 runs off just 80 balls. He hit 15 fours and 15 sixes in that innings. It is the highest individual score in any ICC tournament final, at youth or senior level.

India won the final by 100 runs and lifted the U19 World Cup title.

Across the tournament, Suryavanshi scored 439 runs in 7 innings. He hit 30 sixes, the most by any batter in a single U19 World Cup. He won both the Player of the Match award in the final and the Player of the Tournament award.

Strong Numbers in Domestic Cricket

Suryavanshi has been equally impressive in domestic cricket. His numbers across formats show a level of consistency that goes beyond his age.

In T20 cricket, he has scored 701 runs in 18 matches at a strike rate of 204.37, with 3 centuries and 1 fifty. In List A cricket, he has played 8 matches and scored 353 runs, including 1 century and 1 fifty. In first-class cricket, he has scored 207 runs across 8 matches and 12 innings.

He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bihar at just 12 years of age.

What Happens Next

Now that Suryavanshi has turned 15, the ICC rule no longer blocks him from playing for the senior India team. The decision on when to hand him his debut will rest with the BCCI selectors.

He will next be seen in action during IPL 2026 for Rajasthan Royals. His performances there will be closely watched as the conversation around an India debut grows louder.
