Yorkshire Women are the big addition in 2026. Their promotion to Tier 1 means the Roses rivalry with Lancashire enters the professional era of women’s domestic cricket for the first time.

How Are Points Calculated in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup?

The Metro Bank One Day Cup Women’s Competition uses a points system that rewards dominant wins with a bonus point. This is different from most T20 leagues where a win simply gives you 2 points.

Match OutcomePoints Awarded
Win (without bonus point)4 points
Win (with bonus point)5 points
No Result / Abandoned2 points to each team
Loss0 points
Tied Match (decided by Super Over or countback)Winner gets 4 points

How Does the Bonus Point Work?

A bonus point is awarded to the winning team if they achieve a convincing victory. This is determined by the margin of victory relative to the match conditions.

For example, Lancashire Women earned 5 points in Round 1, meaning they won with a large enough margin to pick up the bonus. The other three winners picked up 4 points each from standard victories.

After all group matches, the top 4 teams qualify for the knockout stage. Teams tied on points are separated by Net Run Rate (NRR).

What Is Net Run Rate (NRR)?

Net Run Rate is the key tiebreaker in the standings. It measures how quickly a team scores runs compared to how quickly opponents score against them.

NRR Formula

NRR = (Total runs scored / Total overs faced) minus (Total runs conceded / Total overs bowled)

A positive NRR means the team is outscoring its opponents by a bigger margin. A negative NRR means the team is losing by wider margins than it is winning.

Right now, Lancashire Women lead with an NRR of +3.104, reflecting their dominant opening win. On the flip side, Durham Women sit at -3.104, the mirror image of that result.
