How the MPL 2026 Points Table Works

The MPL 2026 points system follows the standard T20 league format used across BCCI-affiliated domestic tournaments.

ResultPoints Awarded
Win2
Loss0
Tie (decided by Super Over)2 (winner) / 0 (loser)
No Result / Abandoned1 each

When two or more teams finish on equal points, Net Run Rate (NRR) acts as the primary tiebreaker.

NRR is calculated by subtracting a team’s runs conceded per over from runs scored per over across all matches. A positive NRR shows the team has scored faster than opponents overall, while a negative figure suggests the opposite.

In the 2025 season, Bhopal Leopards qualified fourth with just 1 win, thanks to 4 no-result matches that gave them 4 bonus points. Their sky-high NRR of +2.063 further separated them from teams below. So yes, rain can play kingmaker in this tournament.

All three new franchises enter the tournament as underdogs. However, Ujjain Falcons feature Madhav Tiwari, fresh off his IPL stint with Delhi Capitals, which gives them an instant edge in the pace department.

Indore Pink Panthers boast Venkatesh Iyer, the RCB all-rounder who can single-handedly change games with both bat and ball. His presence makes the Panthers a genuine title threat this year.

Tournament Format and Qualification Rules

The MPL 2026 follows a straightforward knockout-qualifying structure that rewards consistency across the league stage.

League Stage

All 10 teams play each other once during the group phase, resulting in 45 league-stage matches over three weeks.

Matches are scheduled in double-header (3:00 PM and 7:30 PM IST) and triple-header (9:30 AM, 2:00 PM, 7:30 PM IST) formats on weekends.

Playoffs

The top 4 teams on the points table qualify for the knockout stage.

Semi-Final 1 pits the table-topper (Qualifier 1) against the 4th-placed team (Qualifier 4). Meanwhile, Semi-Final 2 features the 2nd-placed team (Qualifier 2) against the 3rd (Qualifier 3).

Both semi-finals are scheduled for June 25, followed by the Grand Finale on June 26 at 7:30 PM IST. All playoff matches will be held at Holkar Stadium, Indore.

Where to Watch MPL 2026 Live

All matches of the Madhya Pradesh T20 League 2026 will be available for live streaming on FanCode. Fans attending in person can watch games at Holkar Stadium, Indore, which serves as the sole venue for all men’s matches, including the final.

FanCode

As of now, no TV broadcast deal has been officially confirmed. However, FanCode has been the digital streaming partner for both the 2024 and 2025 editions, making it the go-to platform for catching MPL action live.

What to Expect From the MPL 2026 Standings

With 10 teams and only 4 playoff spots, the MPL 2026 points table promises to be far more competitive than the 7-team format used in previous seasons. Here is what could shape the standings.

Defending Champions Under Pressure

Bhopal Leopards won the 2025 title with just 1 league-stage win. That route becomes nearly impossible with 10 teams competing for 4 slots. They will need to win at least 5 out of 9 matches to stay in contention.

The Debutant Factor

Malwa Stallions, Ujjain Falcons, and Royal Nimar Eagles have no MPL track record. While that makes them unpredictable, it also means opponents cannot prepare based on historical data. Fresh teams can surprise.

NRR Could Decide Everything

With 10 teams and each playing just 9 matches, several sides could finish on equal points. Net Run Rate will likely be the deciding factor for the last playoff spot. Teams that win big, rather than scrape through, will have a significant advantage.
