How Teams Qualify for the T20 Blast 2026 Knockouts
With only 12 group matches per team (down from 14 in previous years), every result carries more weight. Here is how the qualification ladder works.
Direct Qualification (6 teams)
The top two teams from each of the three groups go straight to the quarter-finals. That accounts for six of the eight knockout spots.
Wildcard Qualification (2 teams)
The two best third-placed teams across all three groups also qualify. Points are compared first, followed by NRR as the tiebreaker.
So finishing third is not the end. However, a slow start with two or three early losses could be fatal under this compact format.
