LSG vs DC Head-to-Head in IPL may not have the history of CSK vs MI or RCB vs KKR, but it already carries enough heat to feel personal.

IPL 2026 clash on April 1 at 7:30 PM IST in Lucknow adds another layer to a fixture that has moved quickly from “new rivalry” to “one fans actually wait for.” Delhi Capitals come in with the stronger recent grip, leading the overall head-to-head 4-3 and the recent stretch 4-1 in the last five.

Add KL Rahul returning to face Lucknow again after that very public fallout with the franchise, and then there’s also Digvesh Rathi from LSG and DC’s Nitish Rana, because those two have already had issues after their DPL clash. So this ne already feels more heated than a normal league game.

This is also one of those games where the numbers only tell half the story. Delhi is trying to build on recent control in this matchup, while Lucknow is trying to stop the slide before it becomes a proper trend.

LSG vs DC Overall Head-to-Head Record in IPL

This rivalry is close on paper, but the momentum has clearly shifted in recent seasons.

Across 7 IPL meetings, Delhi Capitals lead Lucknow Super Giants 4-3. That part is straightforward. The more interesting part is how that lead was built. LSG won the first three matches between the two teams, but DC have since won the next four in a row.

So while the overall scoreline still looks narrow, the rivalry itself has already tilted.

That pattern matters because it shows this fixture has gone through two very different phases. Early on, Lucknow looked like the better-structured side. In the last two seasons, Delhi have looked more settled in key moments and much better at finishing games from winning positions.

LSG vs DC Results In All IPL Seasons

From their first meeting in 2022 to the latest clashes in 2025, here is every result in this rivalry so far.

YearVenueResult
2022DY Patil Stadium, Navi MumbaiLSG won by 6 wickets
2022Wankhede Stadium, MumbaiLSG won by 6 runs
2023Ekana Stadium, LucknowLSG won by 50 runs

2024Arun Jaitley Stadium, DelhiDC won by 19 runs
2025ACA-VDCA Stadium, VisakhapatnamDC won by 1 wicket
2025Ekana Stadium, LucknowDC won by 8 wickets

The first three meetings were all in Lucknow. They won while chasing, won while defending, and won heavily at home. For a while, it looked like DC simply had no answer to them.

But once Delhi broke through in 2024, the whole matchup started changing. They looked calmer in chases, more controlled in the middle overs, and far less shaky under scoreboard pressure. That is why the head-to-head has turned from 3-0 LSG to 4-3 DC.

Last 5 LSG vs DC Matches

If you want the quickest possible read on where this rivalry currently stands, this table says enough.

DateWinnerMargin
22-Apr-2025DCwon by 8 wickets
24-Mar-2025DCwon by 1 wicket
14-May-2024DCwon by 19 runs
12-Apr-2024DCwon by 6 wickets
01-Apr-2023LSGwon by 50 runs

Delhi has won 4 of the last 5 meetings, and not in one repeated pattern either. They have defended totals, chased comfortably, and survived one proper last-over mess. That matters because it shows this is not just a lucky run. They have beaten Lucknow in multiple match situations.

This is also where the emotional side of the fixture starts becoming more relevant. With Rahul now in Delhi colors and Pant carrying Lucknow’s campaign, this rivalry is no longer just tactical. It is personal in spots, too.

Key Records in LSG vs DC IPL Matches

Even though this fixture is still young, it has already produced some proper standout numbers.

Most Runs in LSG vs DC Matches

PlayerRunsAverageStrike RateHighest Score
KL Rahul21042.00135.4877
Nicholas Pooran18136.20215.4775
Rishabh Pant15731.40129.7544
Mitchell Marsh15438.50165.5972
Quinton de Kock13433.50155.8180

KL Rahul is the leading run-scorer in this rivalry with 210 runs, which is why his return to this fixture adds a little extra noise. He knows both dugouts, both dressing-room energies, and now returns with the chance to influence the matchup from the other side.

But the most dangerous batter in this fixture has probably been Nicholas Pooran. His 181 runs at a strike rate of 215.47 tell you exactly what kind of damage he has done here. When he gets going against Delhi, he tends to drag the match into chaos very quickly.

Mitchell Marsh also deserves mention because his returns are strong for a small sample, while Rishabh Pant has been involved enough in this rivalry to matter even without one truly defining monster innings yet.

Most Wickets in LSG vs DC Matches

Mukesh Kumar723.289.054/33
Shardul Thakur619.339.943/40
Mark Wood52.803.505/14

With the ball, Ravi Bishnoi has been the standout name in this rivalry with 10 wickets, and he has usually taken them in the kind of phases that change games rather than decorate scorecards.

Right behind him is Kuldeep Yadav, whose 9 wickets and better economy show why he has been such a reliable matchup weapon for Delhi in this fixture.

And then there is Mark Wood’s 5/14, which remains the single most brutal bowling performance in LSG vs DC history. Pure pace, no mercy, and still one of the first scorecards people remember when this rivalry comes up.

LSG vs DC Individual And Team Records

Some records already stand out strongly, despite the rivalry being only seven matches old.

These numbers also sum up the character of the rivalry pretty well. Lucknow has produced some of the louder individual highs. Delhi, especially in the last two seasons, has collected the more meaningful results.

Best Match In LSG vs DC IPL History

If one match truly gave this rivalry its identity, it was Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants on March 24, 2025, in Visakhapatnam. LSG put up 209/8, with Mitchell Marsh scoring 72 and Nicholas Pooran smashing 75, so for most of the match it felt like they had already done enough.

Delhi’s chase then went all over the place. They were 7/3, then 65/5, and later 113/6. They still needed 97 off 45, so it looked done. Tristan Stubbs gave them some hope with 34 off 22, and then Vipraj Nigam, playing his first IPL match, smashed 39 off just 15 balls and suddenly made the chase feel alive again.

Then Ashutosh Sharma walked in at 113/6, with Delhi needing 97 off 45, and somehow flipped the whole chase. He stayed unbeaten on 66 off just 31 balls, and the crazy part is he did it while wickets kept falling around him. By the last over, DC still needed 6 runs with 1 wicket left.

First ball brought review drama and a missed stumping chance, so the tension was at its peak. Then Shahbaz missed his length, and Ashutosh drilled it straight back over the bowler’s head for six, sealing a 1-wicket win with 3 balls left.

That chase of 210 became the Delhi Capitals’ highest successful chase in IPL history, and also the first time a 200-plus target was successfully chased against Lucknow Super Giants. For a rivalry this young, that is one hell of a signature game.

Conclusion: DC Leads The Rivalry 4-3

Right now, the LSG vs DC head-to-head in IPL stands at 4-3 in favor of Delhi Capitals, and if you zoom into recent form within the rivalry, it becomes even clearer: DC lead 4-1 in the last five matches.

That is the real pressure on Lucknow now. One more Delhi win and this stops feeling like a close rivalry and starts feeling like a swing.

But it is still not fully gone. LSG still has enough match-winners to flip a game in a short burst, and Delhi still has enough chaos in them to keep things interesting. That is why this fixture works. It is not old, but it already has enough tension to matter.
