SRH leads the SRH vs RR head-to-head record 12–9 across 21 IPL matches. Although this rivalry is relatively young (SRH replaced the Deccan Chargers in 2013), it has already produced some of the most extraordinary batting displays in IPL history. For instance, the IPL 2025 meeting in Hyderabad generated 528 combined runs, with SRH posting the second-highest team total ever (286/6) and RR responding with 242/6 in a losing cause.
What makes this fixture particularly compelling is the playoff pedigree. SRH beat RR in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 to reach the final. Moreover, the two franchises have met in high-stakes knockout matches that have shaped seasons. As a result, every meeting between these two carries weight beyond just league points.
RR are currently 4–0 in IPL 2026 (top of the table), while SRH sit at 1–3. Both teams meet next on April 13 in IPL 2026 at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. All data below is updated through IPL 2025.
SRH vs RR Head-to-Head: Summary
SRH holds a 12–9 lead across 21 IPL matches. In particular, their dominance at home in Hyderabad and a strong run under David Warner’s captaincy (2016–2019) built this advantage.

Venue-Wise Breakdown
Here is the Venue-wise Victories and Records :
SRH’s Hyderabad Dominance
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad: SRH have won 5 out of 6 matches against RR at their home ground. Furthermore, the flat batting surface at Hyderabad has historically suited SRH’s aggressive approach. The 2025 match here produced the second-highest team total in IPL history (286/6). As a result, RR have won just once in Hyderabad, making it one of their least favourite away grounds.
However, RR’s lone Hyderabad win was memorable. In 2023, they demolished SRH by 72 runs, with Yuzvendra Chahal taking 4/17. That match proved even SRH’s fortress can be breached.
Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Jaipur (RR’s home): RR hold a 2–1 edge at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. In particular, the batting-friendly conditions and RR’s passionate home crowd have given them an advantage. SRH have found it difficult to contain RR’s batting on Jaipur’s true surfaces.
Neutral Venues
Neutral Venues (Delhi, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Chennai, Sharjah): Interestingly, RR leads 6–5 at neutral grounds. Both of RR’s biggest wins in this rivalry came at neutral venues. For example, Jos Buttler’s 124-powered 55-run win in IPL 2021 was at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, SRH won the crucial IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 at Chennai, also a neutral venue, by 36 runs.
SRH vs RR Match Results (IPL 2019–2025)

Note: RR were suspended in 2016–2017. SRH entered the IPL in 2013. There are therefore no SRH vs RR matches before 2013 or during the suspension years.
Recent Form: SRH’s Dominance Since 2023
Here is some info regarding to the Recent Form of both Teams:
Four Wins in the Last Five
Here’s the stat that defines this rivalry’s recent chapter: SRH have won 4 of the last 5 completed matches against RR. Consequently, the Royals’ only win in this stretch was the memorable 72-run demolition in 2023. Since that match, however, SRH have reeled off three consecutive victories, including the 2024 Qualifier 2.
The 2025 Hyderabad Run-Fest
The IPL 2025 opener at Hyderabad on March 23 was the most extraordinary game in this fixture’s history. First, SRH batted and posted a staggering 286/6, the second-highest team total in IPL history.

Travis Head (67 off 31) set the tone by smashing Jofra Archer for a brutal 24-run over, including a 105-metre six. After that, Ishan Kishan took over on his SRH debut. He brought up his fifty in just 25 balls before going on to score an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes. Furthermore, Klaasen (32 off 14) and Nitish Reddy (30 off 15) added late fireworks.
RR’s Valiant Chase Falls Short
Most teams would have folded chasing 287. However, RR responded with immense courage. Sanju Samson (66 off 37) and Dhruv Jurel (70 off 35) stitched a crucial 111-run partnership that briefly reignited RR’s hopes. Nevertheless, the required rate proved too steep, and RR eventually finished on 242/6. The combined 528 runs from the match was one of the highest aggregates in IPL history.

The 2024 Qualifier 2
Before the 2025 blockbuster, SRH had also won the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 at Chennai by 36 runs. In that match, Heinrich Klaasen (50 off 34) anchored SRH to 175/9 after a shaky start. In reply, RR could only manage 139/7 as Shahbaz Ahmed (3/23) and Abhishek Sharma (2/24) choked the chase. That result sent SRH to the IPL Final and knocked RR out of the tournament.

Highest Team Score in SRH vs RR Matches
The 2025 Hyderabad encounter produced the highest team totals on both sides of this rivalry.
| Team | Highest Score | Year / Venue |
|---|---|---|
| SRH | 286/6 | 2025 / Hyderabad (2nd highest in IPL history) |
| RR | 242/6 | 2025 / Hyderabad (same match, lost by 44 runs) |
SRH’s 286/6 fell just 1 run short of their own all-time IPL record of 287/3 (set against RCB in 2024). Specifically, Ishan Kishan’s 106* was the centrepiece, while Head, Klaasen, and Nitish Reddy all provided support. As a result, the total was virtually unchaseable.
On the other hand, RR’s 242/6 in the same match would have won virtually any other IPL game in history. Samson’s 66 and Jurel’s 70 were outstanding knocks. But posting 242 and still losing by 44 runs tells you everything about the batting conditions at Hyderabad.
Previously, RR’s highest score in this fixture was 220/3 in IPL 2021 at Delhi, powered by Jos Buttler’s 124.
Lowest Team Score in SRH vs RR Matches
In contrast to the batting fireworks, the lows in this rivalry reveal how both teams can collapse.
| Team | Lowest Score | Context |
|---|---|---|
| RR | 102 | 2014 / Hyderabad (SRH bowling dominance) |
| SRH | 127 | 2015 / Hyderabad |
RR’s 102 all out at Hyderabad in 2014 is the lowest score in this fixture. Interestingly, even the lowest totals from both sides came at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, a ground otherwise known for being a batting paradise. In other words, conditions in Hyderabad can occasionally favour bowlers too.
SRH’s 127 all out in 2015 was their worst showing, also at home. However, such low scores have become increasingly rare as both teams have stacked their lineups with power-hitters.
Most Runs in SRH vs RR Matches
| Rank | Player | Current Team (2026) | Runs | Key Context |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sanju Samson | CSK | ~698 | RR’s former captain, now at Chennai |
| 2 | David Warner | Retired from IPL | ~650 | SRH’s talisman during Warner era |
| 3 | Jos Buttler | GT | ~400 | HS: 124 (2021), moved to Gujarat Titans |
| 4 | Ishan Kishan | SRH | ~200 | 106* on SRH debut vs RR (2025) |
| 5 | Dhruv Jurel | RR | ~150 | 70 off 35 in the 2025 run-fest |
Sanju Samson (~698 Runs)
Samson leads the run charts in this rivalry by a comfortable margin. His ~698 runs against SRH came across nearly a decade of service for the Rajasthan Royals. In particular, his 66 off 37 in the 2025 Hyderabad chase showcased his ability to play match-defining innings even in losing causes. However, Samson has since moved to Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2026. Consequently, his tally in this specific rivalry will no longer grow.
David Warner (~650 Runs)
Warner was SRH’s run machine against RR, especially during his captaincy years (2015–2021). He won the Orange Cap three times during this period and his aggressive left-handed batting consistently troubled RR’s bowling attack. Although he has retired from the IPL, Warner’s legacy in this fixture remains significant.
Jos Buttler (~400 Runs)
Buttler holds the highest individual score in this rivalry with his 124 off 64 balls at Delhi in IPL 2021. That knock featured 11 fours and 8 sixes and powered RR to a 55-run win. Furthermore, it remains the highest IPL score by any RR batter in history. Buttler has since moved to Gujarat Titans, meaning his contribution to this specific rivalry has ended.
Ishan Kishan (~200 Runs)
Kishan made an immediate impact in this fixture with his unbeaten 106 off 47 balls in the 2025 Hyderabad opener. That was his maiden IPL century and also his SRH debut. As a result, he instantly became the highest scorer by an SRH batter against RR. As SRH’s new captain for IPL 2026, Kishan will therefore have added motivation against the Royals.
Dhruv Jurel (~150 Runs)
Jurel has emerged as RR’s most reliable batter in this fixture in recent seasons. His 70 off 35 in the 2025 chase and 56 off 35 in the 2024 Qualifier 2 both came in high-pressure situations. In addition, his aggressive wicketkeeping-batting has made him one of RR’s most valuable players against SRH.
Most Wickets in SRH vs RR Matches
| Rank | Player | Team | Wickets | Key Trait |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bhuvneshwar Kumar | SRH → RCB (2026) | 15 | Swing bowling, powerplay specialist |
| 2 | James Faulkner | RR (retired) | 12 | Two five-wicket hauls vs SRH |
| 3 | Rashid Khan | GT (2026) | ~10 | Leg-spin, middle-overs control |
| 4 | Sandeep Sharma | RR (2026) | ~8 | Medium-pace swing, quiet consistency |
| 5 | Harshal Patel | SRH | ~7 | Death-overs variations |
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (15 Wickets)
Bhuvneshwar leads the bowling charts in this rivalry with 15 wickets. His trademark inswing in the powerplay has been particularly devastating against RR’s top order. Most notably, he once dismissed both Buttler and Samson for ducks in the very first over of a 2024 league match. That double strike remains one of the most talked-about moments in this fixture. However, Bhuvneshwar has since moved to RCB for IPL 2026, thereby ending his SRH career.
James Faulkner (12 Wickets)
Faulkner’s 12 wickets are extraordinary because they include two five-wicket hauls against SRH. His 5/20 and 5/16 in 2013 were taken just 20 days apart. As a result, he’s the only bowler in IPL history to take two five-fors against the same opponent in the same season. That’s a record that may never be broken.
Rashid Khan and Others
Rashid Khan (~10 wickets) was SRH’s trump card against RR during his five-season stint (2017–2021). His economy rate in this fixture stayed below 7, which consistently choked RR’s scoring. However, Rashid now plays for Gujarat Titans, so his impact in this rivalry has ended.
Similarly, Sandeep Sharma (~8 wickets) has been effective with his medium-pace swing for RR. Meanwhile, Harshal Patel (~7 wickets) has been SRH’s most reliable death-overs bowler against the Royals in recent seasons.
Best Bowling Figures in SRH vs RR Matches
Remarkably, this rivalry has produced three five-wicket hauls, all from the RR side. That’s a rare occurrence in any IPL fixture.
| Player | Team | Figures | Year | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| James Faulkner | RR | 5/16 | IPL 2013 | Jaipur |
| James Faulkner | RR | 5/20 | IPL 2013 | Hyderabad |
| Bhuvneshwar Kumar | SRH | 4/14 | Multiple | Various |
| Yuzvendra Chahal | RR | 4/17 | IPL 2023 | Hyderabad |
Faulkner’s Double Five-For (5/16 and 5/20)
Faulkner achieved something truly unique in 2013. He took 5/20 in the first SRH vs RR meeting at Hyderabad and then followed it up with 5/16 at Jaipur, just 20 days later. Consequently, he remains the only player in IPL history to take two five-wicket hauls against the same team in the same season. The 5/16 at Jaipur also included a maiden over, a rarity in T20 cricket.
Bhuvneshwar’s Consistent Excellence (4/14)
Bhuvneshwar’s best figures of 4/14 showcase his ability to pick up key wickets early. In particular, his opening spells against RR’s top order have been consistently devastating. Although he never took a five-for in this fixture, his cumulative impact of 15 wickets makes him the rivalry’s most effective bowler overall.
Chahal’s Hyderabad Masterclass (4/17)
Yuzvendra Chahal’s 4/17 at Hyderabad in 2023 powered RR’s biggest win in this rivalry (72 runs). Interestingly, this was one of the rare occasions when a spinner dominated at the batting-friendly Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. His leg-spin bamboozled SRH’s middle order and restricted them to just 131/8.
IPL Playoffs: SRH’s Big-Stage Edge
Here are the playoffs Records:
The 2024 Qualifier 2
What separates this rivalry from many others is the playoff history. SRH and RR met in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 at Chennai, with a place in the final at stake. SRH won by 36 runs, thanks to Klaasen’s composed 50 and a disciplined bowling display. As a result, SRH progressed to the final (where they lost to KKR), while RR’s season ended.
That knockout result added significant weight to SRH’s overall advantage. In high-pressure situations, SRH have consistently performed better against RR, winning the matches that matter most.

What Lies Ahead: IPL 2026 And Beyond
This rivalry tells a story of SRH’s gradual dominance. Twelve wins to nine. A 5–1 record in Hyderabad. A Qualifier 2 victory. Warner’s 650 runs. Bhuvneshwar’s 15 wickets. And the unforgettable 286 in 2025.
However, the dynamics of this rivalry are shifting significantly in IPL 2026. Sanju Samson (the rivalry’s all-time leading run-scorer) has moved to CSK. Jos Buttler (holder of the highest individual score) now plays for GT. Bhuvneshwar (most wickets) is at RCB. Rashid Khan is at GT. In other words, neither team has the same personnel that defined the first decade of this fixture.
RR are currently the form team in IPL 2026, sitting at 4–0 under Riyan Parag’s captaincy. They’ve been powered by 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (current Orange Cap holder) and Ravi Bishnoi (current Purple Cap holder). Meanwhile, SRH are struggling at 1–3 under Ishan Kishan, with Pat Cummins injured.
The April 13 clash at Hyderabad will therefore test whether RR can finally break SRH’s home dominance. After all, RR have lost 5 of their 6 visits to the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in this fixture. But with Jofra Archer, Ravindra Jadeja, and the red-hot Sooryavanshi in their ranks, these Royals are better equipped than any previous RR squad to change the script at Hyderabad. The question is whether SRH’s home fortress will hold once more.
