Rajasthan Royals produced a bowling masterclass at the Ekana Cricket Stadium to defend a modest total and defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs in Match 32 of IPL 2026 on April 22.

Despite a mid-innings collapse that saw RR reduced to 32/3 early on, a vital unbeaten knock from Ravindra Jadeja guided them to 159. The Royals’ pace attack, led by Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, then decimated the LSG top order to ensure a comfortable victory.

RR Innings: 159/6 in 20 Overs

Rajasthan Royals faced an early storm as Mohammed Shami (2/30) and Mohsin Khan (2/17) combined to leave the top order in tatters at 32/3 within the first four overs. Riyan Parag (20) and Shimron Hetmyer (22) provided brief resistance, but the innings lacked momentum on a challenging Lucknow surface.

Ravindra Jadeja – 43 off 29 balls

The rescue act came from Ravindra Jadeja, who played a composed and crucial unbeaten 43 off 29 balls. He anchored the backend of the innings, finding support in Impact Player Shubham Dubey (19)*. Together, they pushed the total to 159, a score that looked competitive given the conditions.

LSG Chase: 119 All Out in 18 Overs

Lucknow’s chase began in disastrous fashion, losing Ayush Badoni to a run-out in the first over and then seeing Nandre Burger (2/27) remove Rishabh Pant for a duck. When Jofra Archer (3/20) dismissed Aiden Markram, LSG were reeling at 11/3. Mitchell Marsh played a lone hand with a fighting 55 off 41 balls, but he received very little support from the other end.

Key Highlights

  • Archer’s Lethal Spell: Jofra Archer’s 3/20, including a maiden over, was a reminder of his world-class ability to stifle runs while taking wickets.
  • Jadeja’s Rescue Mission: Coming in at a critical juncture, Jadeja’s experience was the difference between a sub-130 score and a winning total.
  • LSG’s Powerplay Nightmare: Losing three world-class batters for just 11 runs proved a mountain too high for Mitchell Marsh to climb alone.

Player of the Match

Ravindra Jadeja (RR): Selected for his game-changing 43 off 29 balls* and a disciplined bowling spell of 1/29. His all-round contribution ensured Rajasthan Royals maintained their position at the top of the table.
