RCB vs GT Head-to-Head in IPL

RCB and GT are perfectly level going into this Final, which makes tonight even more loaded.

IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 ResultRCB won by 92 runs (Dharamsala, May 26)

Heading into Qualifier 1 earlier this season, the two sides were tied 4-4 in all-time IPL meetings. Then RCB thrashed GT by 92 runs at Dharamsala to book a direct Final berth. That is a result GT will want to erase from memory fast.

But playoff finals at neutral venues are a different beast. GT clawed their way back through Qualifier 2, beating Rajasthan Royals to earn a second shot. They are battle-hardened. They are angry. And Shubman Gill at the Narendra Modi Stadium, his home ground in Ahmedabad, is a different proposition entirely.

Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

The Narendra Modi Stadium is the world’s largest cricket stadium, with a seating capacity of 132,000. There is no better stage for an IPL Final.

The pitch has been a batter’s paradise throughout IPL 2026 at this venue, with average first-innings scores hovering around 190-200. The surface offers true bounce and consistent carry, rewarding stroke play once batters settle in.

RCB head coach Andy Flower confirmed ahead of the match: the Final will be played on pitch six, which is 75% red soil, the same strip used in the IPL 2025 Final. That strip historically plays very well and tends to produce high-scoring games.

Fast bowlers may get some help with the new ball early on. As the innings progresses, spinners like Rashid Khan and Suyash Sharma could come into play, especially in the middle overs.

Weather: Around 32°C, clear skies, with only a 1% chance of rain. No interruptions expected. Dew could factor in the second innings, giving the chasing side a slight advantage.

Probable Playing XIs

Here are Probable Playing XI of both Teams:

RCB Probable XI

Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (C), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Tim David, Jacob Bethell, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar. Impact Player: Suyash Sharma

GT Probable XI

Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Washington Sundar, Nishant Sindhu, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna.

Key Player Battles to Watch

Virat Kohli vs Kagiso Rabada: Kohli has been in superb touch all season. Rabada is one of the most dangerous powerplay bowlers in the world. This battle in the first six overs could set the tone for the entire Final.

Shubman Gill vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Gill’s record at Narendra Modi Stadium is exceptional, and he will be desperate to make a statement on home turf. Bhuvneshwar, the Purple Cap leader in IPL 2026 with 24 wickets, will look to exploit any early movement with the new ball.

Rashid Khan vs Tim David: Rashid is GT’s trump card in the middle overs. David, however, is one of the cleanest hitters of spin in the game. Whoever wins this matchup could decide where the Final tips.

Conclusion:Watch RCB vs GT IPL 2026 Final Live on Star Sports Network & JioHotstar

A win for RCB puts them alongside Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians as the only three teams to successfully defend their IPL title. That is serious franchise history.

A win for GT makes them the fourth team after CSK, MI, and KKR to win the IPL more than once, having won their maiden title back in 2022.

Both teams are chasing a second IPL title. Only one gets there. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, May 31, 7:30 PM IST. Don’t miss it.
