CSK sit sixth with 12 points from 12 matches and face elimination if they lose. SRH are third with 14 points from 12 matches but need at least one win from their two remaining games to seal a playoff spot safely.

Adding extraordinary intrigue is the heavy speculation that MS Dhoni  sidelined all season with a calf injury  could make his first appearance of IPL 2026 in his final home game at Chepauk.

Bookmakers price this match at near-even odds, with CSK at around 1.83-1.88 (implied win probability of ~53-55%) thanks to home advantage and the Chepauk spin conditions.

CSK vs SRH Betting Odds Comparison

The market is almost perfectly split, reflecting just how difficult this match is to call. CSK get the home advantage boost at Chepauk their fortress where the spin conditions suit their attack ideally.

SRH come with superior league-stage form and the tournament’s leading run-scorer in Klaasen. The 10-run win SRH recorded against CSK earlier this season in Hyderabad keeps them competitive in the market despite playing away.

Bet3651.881.98~53%
1xBet1.832.05~55%
Betfair1.852.02~54%

CSK sit at roughly 53-55% implied win probability. Several analysts actually give SRH a slight edge based on superior squad depth and the firepower of their top order on any surface.

However, one factor overrides all of that in the betting market  the potential return of MS Dhoni. If Dhoni plays at Chepauk in what could be his final home IPL game ever, the emotional lift to the CSK team and the crowd becomes virtually impossible to quantify.

CSK vs SRH Predicted Playing XIs

The biggest selection question at CSK is whether MS Dhoni comes in for what would be an extraordinary farewell appearance at Chepauk.

With Jamie Overton ruled out through injury, CSK may also look to adjust their bowling combination. SRH may consider bringing in Harsh Dubey given CSK’s right-hand-heavy batting line-up, which suits his left-arm spin.

M. A. Chidambaram Stadium Pitch Report

The M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, is one of the most distinctive batting challenges in T20 cricket.

The pitch is known as a spinner’s paradise the surface grips and turns, slows the ball significantly from the first innings, and becomes increasingly difficult to bat on as the match progresses.

SRH’s power-hitting top order, which thrives on flat, pace-friendly surfaces, faces its toughest possible challenge here.

AspectDetails
Pitch BehaviourGrips and turns from ball one. Becomes very difficult in middle overs.
Batting ConditionsChallenging. Timing-based batters cope better than big-hitters.
Bowling ConditionsSpinners dominate the first innings (74% of 1st inn wickets in 2026). Pacers get early swing.
Avg. 1st Innings Score (IPL 2026)~186 (higher than historical due to surface renovation)
Par Score (Expected)Around 165-185 runs
Toss ImpactTeams chasing benefit from dew after overs 14-15. Toss winners tend to field first.

The Toss Could Decide This Match

Dew at Chepauk in evening matches has been a decisive factor. Spinners dominate the first innings on the dry, gripping surface  taking 74% of first-innings wickets in IPL 2026 matches at this venue.

Then, from around overs 14-15, dew arrives and the ball begins to skid through, making it much easier to bat in the second innings.

Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Pat Cummins will want to bowl first. If CSK win the toss and choose to bowl, Noor Ahmad operates on a dry, gripping Chepauk surface against SRH’s top order  a scenario that heavily favours CSK.

Weather Forecast for CSK vs SRH

The weather in Chennai on Monday evening is expected to be hot and very humid. No rain is forecast.

AspectDetails
TemperatureAround 30-33°C (hot and muggy during the match)
WeatherPartly cloudy, clear during the game
Rain ProbabilityVery low under 10% chance of rain
HumidityVery high 75-85% (heavy dew guaranteed from overs 14-15 onwards)
WindLight sea breeze from Marina Beach

No significant rain concerns for this match. The proximity to Marina Beach means Chennai is always extremely humid, and heavy dew is guaranteed from approximately the 14th-15th over of the second innings.

This transforms Chepauk from a spinner’s paradise in the first innings to a much flatter, skiddier surface under lights. It is the single most important tactical factor in this match and will dominate both captains’ thinking at the toss.

CSK vs SRH Head-to-Head Record in IPL

Key Players to Watch

This match is rich with compelling individual battles. Here are the players who will be decisive on Monday evening at Chepauk.

PlayerTeamWhy They Matter
Sanju SamsonCSK430 runs, avg 53.75, SR 169.29, two centuries. CSK’s batting backbone and their most important match-winner. Quiet in last two innings  expect a big response.
Noor AhmadCSKCSK’s most dangerous bowler at Chepauk. Left-arm wrist-spin grips and turns massively here. The key weapon to restrict SRH’s aggressive top order.
Anshul KambojCSK19 wickets  second-highest in IPL 2026. Reliable in powerplay and death. CSK’s bowling workhorse without whom the attack would collapse.
Heinrich KlaasenSRH508 runs  IPL 2026’s leading scorer. Avg 50.80, SR 153.93, five fifties. Almost never fails. CSK’s toughest batting challenge.
Abhishek SharmaSRH481 runs, SR 209.13  the most explosive opener in IPL 2026. His aggression against Mukesh Choudhary (220 SR in IPL) is CSK’s most dangerous powerplay matchup.
Pat CumminsSRHSRH’s captain and best bowler. His pace and aggression can disrupt CSK’s top order and his death bowling under dew conditions will be crucial for SRH.

Toss Prediction

The toss is arguably the most important factor in this match. Chepauk’s Chepauk’s first innings is a spinner’s paradise where Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein can be virtually unplayable on the dry surface.

However, by overs 14-15, dew arrives and the ball skids through, giving the chasing team a significant advantage. Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Pat Cummins will bowl first without hesitation.

If CSK win the toss, they get to unleash Noor Ahmad on a dry, gripping surface against SRH’s right-hand-heavy top order  which is their best possible tactical position. The toss winner has an enormous advantage in this match.

Match Prediction

Both teams are wounded CSK from their LSG defeat, SRH from being bowled out for 86 against GT. Both teams desperately need two points. And both teams have genuine match-winners who can settle this on their own. This is the most evenly matched game of the season’s final week.

Where CSK Holds the Edge

Chepauk is CSK’s home and one of the most intimidating grounds in world cricket for visiting teams. The knowledge of the conditions, the roaring crowd, and the spin-friendly surface all combine to give CSK a genuine structural advantage that goes beyond just familiarity.

Noor Ahmad on this surface is CSK’s single biggest weapon. The left-arm wrist-spinner gets exceptional grip and turn at Chepauk, and against SRH’s aggressive, predominantly right-handed top order, he can take 3-4 wickets in his four overs on a good day.

Furthermore, Akeal Hosein complements him perfectly from the other end. Together, they can create a spin stranglehold in the middle overs that SRH simply will not be prepared for.

Additionally, the potential return of MS Dhoni adds a wildcard element that goes beyond cricket. The Chepauk crowd’s reaction to Dhoni walking out to bat  if it happens  would create an atmosphere unlike anything in IPL 2026. Whether he plays or not, the speculation alone lifts the entire CSK camp and puts pressure on SRH to silence one of sport’s most passionate crowds.

Where SRH Holds the Edge

Abhishek Sharma against Mukesh Choudhary is the most dangerous powerplay matchup in this game. Abhishek has scored 66 runs at a strike rate of 220 against Choudhary in IPL cricket, and if he gets 30 balls in the first six overs, SRH will be ahead of any reasonable par score. His ability to hit any length over any boundary on any surface makes him genuinely uncontainable when he is in rhythm.

Klaasen’s record against Noor Ahmad  68 runs at a strike rate of 219  is CSK’s biggest tactical problem. The one bowler they most want to use against SRH’s middle order is the one bowler Klaasen has historically dominated. CSK may need to use Noor against Head and Abhishek rather than Klaasen, which disrupts their natural bowling plan entirely.

Furthermore, SRH’s superior points tally and league-stage form  seven wins to CSK’s six  suggest they have found winning solutions more consistently. When their batting fires, they are capable of scoring 200+ on any surface. If the pitch is flatter than expected under heavy dew in the second innings, SRH’s chase could become very comfortable.

Key Concerns for Both Teams

CSK’s concern is their bowling consistency without Overton. The attack beyond Kamboj and Noor has leaked runs regularly, and SRH’s top order can absolutely punish any loose delivery.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s low strike rate of 124.15 is also a concern on a slow Chepauk surface where every ball matters, a top-order batter consuming deliveries without acceleration can handicap CSK’s chase significantly.

SRH’s concern is their catastrophic 86 all out against GT just six days ago. That collapse was not just statistical  it revealed a deep fragility in the batting order once the top three fail.

At Chepauk, where Noor Ahmad and Hosein will grip and turn the ball from the very first over, SRH’s middle and lower order could be exposed in exactly the same way. If Abhishek, Head, and Klaasen fall cheaply, SRH have no-one with the experience to rebuild against quality spin.

Final Verdict: CSK’s Last Stand at Their Fortress

Prediction: CSK hold a slim edge at around 53-55%, driven primarily by Chepauk conditions, Noor Ahmad’s spin threat, and the extraordinary atmosphere of a must-win final home game. However, this is genuinely one of the most difficult matches to call in IPL 2026.

SRH’s best chance is a Abhishek Sharma powerplay explosion followed by Klaasen dominating the middle overs. If SRH post 185+, even CSK’s batting  which has struggled against quality bowling  will find it very hard to chase with the pitch drying up further in the second innings.

CSK’s best chance is winning the toss, bowling first, and unleashing Noor Ahmad on a dry Chepauk surface against SRH’s right-hand-heavy top three. If Noor takes 2-3 wickets in overs 7-14, SRH will struggle to reach 165, and Samson can then chase that comfortably under dew. Expect a tense, low-to-mid-scoring match with a par of around 165-185.
