How the Points System Works in Bengal Pro T20 League

Understanding the points system is essential for tracking qualification scenarios. The Bengal Pro T20 League follows a standard T20 franchise league scoring model.

AspectInfo
ScenarioPoints Awarded
Win2
Loss0
No Result / Abandoned1
Tie (decided by Super Over)2 (winner) / 0 (loser)
Tiebreaker for equal pointsNet Run Rate (NRR)

How Is Net Run Rate Calculated?

NRR equals the difference between a team’s runs scored per over and runs conceded per over. For example, if a team scores 160 in 20 overs (8.00 per over) and concedes 140 in 20 overs (7.00 per over), their NRR is +1.00.

This metric becomes crucial when teams finish level on points. In Season 2, Sobisco Smashers Malda missed the semi-finals despite having 8 points because their NRR of -0.338 was worse than Murshidabad Kings (+0.057) on the same points tally.

Therefore, chasing teams that finish matches early can boost their NRR significantly. On the other hand, teams losing by large margins see their NRR tank quickly in a 7-match league stage.

All 8 Teams in Bengal Pro T20 League 2026

Season 3 features eight franchise teams, each representing a different region of West Bengal. The biggest structural change this year is the arrival of Novus Purulia Royals, who replaced Harbour Diamonds.

Franchise Change: Purulia Royals Replace Harbour Diamonds

CAB President Sourav Ganguly unveiled the Novus Purulia Royals brand in April 2026. Harbour Diamonds, who actually topped the Season 2 league stage with 10 points, exited the franchise ecosystem after two seasons.

Despite being newcomers, Purulia Royals spent aggressively at the auction. They signed Sudip Gharami (₹9.40L), Yuvraj Keswani (₹8.60L), and U19 sensation Ravi Kumar (₹7.80L) to build a competitive squad from scratch.

Qualification Scenarios: What Teams Need to Reach the Semi-Finals

With only 7 league matches per team and a top-4 cutoff, the margin for error is razor-thin. Based on Season 2’s outcomes, here’s a rough projection of what teams will need.

PositionOutcomePoints Needed (Est.)Wins Needed (Est.)
1st – 2ndSemi-final (auto qualify)10–125–6
3rd – 4thSemi-final (qualify on NRR)8–104–5
5th – 8thEliminatedBelow 83 or fewer

In Season 2, Harbour Diamonds topped the table with just 10 points (5 wins from 7 matches). Meanwhile, three teams finished on 8 points, and NRR separated the third qualifier from the fifth-placed team.

Because rain washed out four matches in Season 2, several teams ended with shared no-result points. Therefore, weather at Eden Gardens during mid-June monsoon season could again play a decisive role in 2026.

Where to Watch Bengal Pro T20 League 2026 Live

The streaming landscape shifted for Season 3. JioHotstar replaced FanCode as the official digital streaming partner.

This is a major upgrade in terms of reach. JioHotstar already streams the IPL and ICC events, so Bengal cricket fans on the platform can now access the state league without downloading another app.

TV broadcast details are yet to be confirmed. In Season 2, Star Sports 3 picked up select matches. However, CAB hasn’t announced a TV deal for 2026 at the time of writing.

Final Thoughts: Stay Tuned for Updated Points Table

The Bengal Pro T20 League 2026 points table will start moving from June 5, and this page will be updated after every match. With a new franchise, a revamped auction system, and JioHotstar’s wider reach, Season 3 promises to be the most competitive edition yet.

Keep this page bookmarked for the latest standings, NRR changes, and qualification updates throughout the tournament.
