RR qualified in dramatic fashion they needed results to go their way on the final day and delivered a 30-run win over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, posting 205 and defending it to seal their playoff spot. The knockout format amplifies everything one bad session and the season is over.

SRH vs RR Betting Odds Comparison

The market reflects a genuine coin-flip with SRH edging it slightly. SRH’s superior batting ceiling  they have posted 200+ ten times this season  and their rich recent form against RCB gives them the marginal edge.

However, RR’s Jofra Archer is the single biggest individual threat in this match, and his record against SRH’s top three  Head, Abhishek, and Kishan gives RR a genuine route to restricting SRH below 180 if Archer is at his best from ball one.

Bet3651.832.03~55%
1xBet1.782.08~56%
Betfair1.822.07~55%

Several analytical models place SRH at 54% favourites, with RR dangerous precisely because Archer gives them a wicket-taking counter that most other teams at this stage of the tournament cannot match. Klaasen has a superb record against most bowling types, but Archer has a better-than-average record against Abhishek, Head, and Kishan, making him the key to unlocking this match for RR.

SRH vs RR Predicted Playing XIs

Both sides are expected to name their strongest available XIs. SRH are likely to bring in Harsh Dubey as a spin option given RR’s right-hand-heavy top order. RR have signed injury-replacement Emanjot Chahal for the departed Ravi Singh and may consider their best bowling combination on what could be a batting-friendly Mullanpur surface.

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium Pitch Report

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur is Punjab Kings’ home venue and has been one of the highest-scoring grounds in IPL 2026. The surface is a proper batting belter flat, true, and very fast-scoring  with an average first innings score of 214 runs in the four IPL 2026 matches played here.

The pitch only gets better as the match progresses, and dew in the second innings makes death bowling even harder. RR have won all three of their matches at this venue in IPL 2026, which is a remarkable and important venue record heading into a knockout game.

AspectDetails
Pitch BehaviourFlat batting belter throughout. Pace and bounce consistent.
Batting ConditionsOutstanding. Ball comes on perfectly. Very high scoring.
Bowling ConditionsSeamers get some early swing. Spinners effective in middle overs with dry ball.
Avg. 1st Innings Score (IPL 2026)~214 runs one of the highest in the competition
Par Score (Expected)Around 200-220 runs
Toss Impact3 of 4 IPL 2026 matches here won by bowling first side. Dew assists chasing team.

The Toss Could Decide This Match

Three of the four IPL 2026 matches at this venue have been won by the side that bowled first. The pitch gets only better through the innings, dew arrives in the second half of the game, and the ball becomes increasingly easier to hit.

Both Pat Cummins and Riyan Parag will strongly consider bowling first. Interestingly, if RR win the toss and bowl, Archer gets the new ball against Abhishek and Head on a fresh surface with more carry the exact scenario RR want most. If SRH win the toss and bowl, their attack must restrict one of the most dangerous powerplay batters in the competition in Suryavanshi.

Weather Forecast for SRH vs RR

The weather in Mullanpur on Wednesday evening is expected to be warm but completely clear. No rain disruptions are forecast.

AspectDetails
TemperatureAround 30-33°C during the match (warm and humid)
WeatherClear skies. No cloud cover expected during play.
Rain ProbabilityNo rain  0% chance of interruption
HumidityModerate to high  dew likely to develop from overs 14-16 onwards
WindLight breeze around 12-15 kmph

No weather concerns whatsoever for this Eliminator. Conditions will be warm but clear throughout, giving both teams a full 40-over match. Dew will develop in the second innings from approximately overs 14-16 under the floodlights, making the ball slippery and hard to bowl with in the death overs. This consistently benefits the chasing team at Mullanpur and will influence both captains heavily at the toss.

SRH vs RR Head-to-Head Record in IPL

This is a rivalry with surprisingly few meetings given both teams’ consistent playoff appearances. The overall record slightly favours SRH, but recent form is the more relevant indicator.

Key Players to Watch

The IPL 2026 Eliminator is loaded with elite individual matchups. Here are the players whose performances will decide who advances to Qualifier 2.

PlayerTeamWhy They Matter
Heinrich KlaasenSRHOrange Cap leader with 500+ runs. Hit 27 runs in one Hazlewood over vs RCB. SRH’s match-winner. If he bats to over 17, SRH post 220+.
Abhishek SharmaSRH53 sixes  most in IPL 2026. SR 209+. Sets the tone with explosiveness in the powerplay. Archer’s biggest challenge.
Pat CumminsSRHSRH’s captain and best bowler. Aggressive, skillful pace in all phases. His wicket-taking ability can derail RR’s top order.
Vaibhav SuryavanshiRR583 runs, SR 232, 53 sixes. IPL 2026’s breakout star. At his best venue (3 wins in 3 at Mullanpur), he is virtually unstoppable.
Jofra ArcherRR21 wickets this season. Better record vs Abhishek, Head, Kishan. In a knockout, one Archer spell can eliminate SRH. The match’s most dangerous bowler.
Yashasvi JaiswalRRRR’s most technically complete batter. Converts starts into big scores. If he and Suryavanshi get 60+ together, RR set up a challenging total.

Toss Prediction

The toss matters enormously in this Eliminator. Three of the four IPL 2026 matches at Mullanpur have been won by the side that bowled first. Dew makes run-chasing easier in the second innings, and the flat pitch gets only better for batting as the match progresses.

Both Pat Cummins and Riyan Parag will bowl first without hesitation. The team winning the toss gains a meaningful tactical advantage especially for RR, who would get Archer to bowl with a fresh ball on a dry surface against SRH’s aggressive openers in the first innings. That is the best possible scenario for RR.

Match Prediction

This is one of the most evenly matched Eliminator pairings in recent IPL history. SRH have the higher batting ceiling and superior league-stage position. RR have the single most dangerous bowler in the knockout, the most exciting opener in world cricket right now, and the best record at this exact venue.

Where SRH Holds the Edge

SRH’s batting firepower is the best in this Eliminator. When Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen are all firing, SRH are capable of posting 220-240 on this flat Mullanpur surface. Their 255/4 against RCB in the final league game was a statement of what this batting unit can achieve at its peak. No team in this knockout stage has a higher batting ceiling than SRH.

Their recent form is also superior. While RR scrambled to qualify on the final day, SRH were already confirmed in third place and used their last game to send a message about their capabilities. That 55-run demolition of RCB  league-stage winners  was not a dead rubber; it was motivated batting for net run rate and confidence. SRH arrive with better energy and preparation.

Where RR Holds the Edge

Jofra Archer is RR’s decisive edge. In a knockout match where one player can eliminate an entire franchise, Archer’s 21-wicket season combined with his specific record against SRH’s top three is the single most dangerous individual matchup in this Eliminator. If Archer dismantles SRH’s batting in the powerplay, restricting them to 160-170, RR’s batting unit is more than capable of chasing that down.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record at Mullanpur is extraordinary. He has won three matches at this venue this season, and his 583 runs at a strike rate of 232 make him the most destructive scorer in the competition. Against SRH’s bowling attack which has been expensive in patches and collapsed to 86 all out against GT Suryavanshi can take this game away in the powerplay

Key Concerns for Both Teams

SRH’s concern is their batting fragility once the top three fail. Their 86 all out against Gujarat Titans showed that when Abhishek, Head, and Klaasen depart cheaply, the middle order Salil Arora, Smaran Ravichandran, Nitish Kumar Reddy can collapse rapidly. Against Archer and Bishnoi on a surface that grips slightly in the first innings, a wobble in the middle overs is entirely possible. SRH’s bowling depth beyond Cummins and Malinga has also been stretched this season.

RR’s concern is their middle-order inconsistency. Between Suryavanshi and Jaiswal at the top and Archer’s bowling, RR have often relied on those two dimensions to carry the team. Riyan Parag’s form through the middle part of the season has been patchy, and Shimron Hetmyer has blown hot and cold. If the openers both fall cheaply against SRH’s quality pace attack, the middle order faces a very demanding rebuild on a big-match stage.

Final Verdict: The Eliminator’s Most Compelling Duel

Prediction: SRH hold a slim edge at around 54-56%. Their superior batting ceiling evidenced by 255/4 against RCB  and stronger head-to-head record in knockout games give them the marginal advantage. Klaasen in the middle order is the difference-maker.

RR’s best chance and it is a genuine one is Archer dismissing Abhishek and Head inside the powerplay. If SRH are 30/2 or 40/3 in the first six overs, Klaasen faces a rescue mission against a crowd fully behind RR. That scenario narrows the gap to almost nothing.

Expect a high-scoring, high-intensity knockout with a par score around 200-215. Both teams have match-winners across batting and bowling. The toss winner will bowl first, and the team that handles the pressure of knockout cricket better will advance to Qualifier 2. On balance, SRH to edge through  but RR, with Suryavanshi and Archer, have every reason to believe they can overturn it.
