The Indian Premier League celebrates big hitting, high scores, and run chases. Batters grab most of the spotlight. But every now and then, a bowler steps up and takes three wickets in three consecutive balls. That moment shifts the entire game. The crowd erupts. The batting side panics. And the bowler enters an exclusive club.

Across 18 completed IPL seasons from 2008 to 2025, the tournament has witnessed 23 hat tricks. Nineteen different bowlers have achieved this rare milestone.

Lakshmipathy Balaji started it all during the very first IPL season in 2008. Since then, the list has grown to include legends, part-timers, debutants, and overseas stars. Amit Mishra, who retired from all cricket in September 2025, sits at the top with three hat tricks. Yuvraj Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal followed with two each. This article covers every single hat trick recorded in IPL history, along with the stories behind them.

Bowlers Still Rule When It Matters Most

The IPL may celebrate big sixes and record-breaking totals, but hat tricks remind everyone that bowlers can take over a match in the blink of an eye. Three balls. Three wickets. And the entire momentum of the game flips.

From Lakshmipathy Balaji’s historic first in 2008 to Yuzvendra Chahal’s latest in 2025, every hat trick on this list carries its own drama.

Twenty-three hat tricks in eighteen seasons tell a clear story. The IPL belongs to batters most of the time, but when a bowler finds rhythm and nerve, three deliveries can rewrite an entire game. As the league grows and new talent arrives every year, this list will keep getting longer. The next hat trick could come from anyone, at any moment, and that unpredictability is what makes the IPL so thrilling.
